NORDAL EXPERIENCES

ARoS Art Museum in Aarhus: Store manager Marika Bekker's favourites

In this series, Nordal visits a small handful of retailers: experience Nordal and Amalie Rosalie products in inspiring settings - and meet some of the people who have picked their Nordal favourites for you.

Get ideas for your next visit to one of Denmark's biggest cities - Nordal brings you personal recommendations for art, homemade pasta, a lovely rooftop terrace and surely something else good too, from some of the people who know the city best: the locals.

Here are some of my own gems that I enjoy, especially in late summer:

Breakfast: Coffee and a sourdough bun with old-fashioned crunch at Monk, Bernhardt Jensens Boulevard 85.

Architecture: Dokk1, the main building of Aarhus Public Libraries, is a must-see.

Nature: Risskov forest and beach.

Experience: "As Seen Below", the ARoS Skyspace, an artwork by James Turrell.

Walks: Møllestien, the Latin Quarter, the Infinite Bridge, Aarhus harbour and Aarhus Ø.

Enjoy the afternoon sun at Bassin 7 on Aarhus Ø, with a good coffee and a croissant from La Cabra.

Get a glass of wine from VinDanmark and take it down to the quay, find a spot where you can enjoy the evening sun and look out over the harbour.

Treat yourself to ice cream from Byens Ismejeri, Frederiksgade 1.

Evening drinks at Den Fede Drue, Dagmar Petersens Gade 62.

"I still haven't had the chance to try the wonderful homemade pasta at Prezzemolo, Jægergårdsgade 85, but it's at the top of my list right now. An authentic Italian restaurant. Remember to book one of their only 10 tables."

Ceramics for every style

At Nordal you'll find a wide range of ceramics in different shapes, colours and expressions. Explore series such as Grainy, Grawa, Atelier Forma, Inez and Ysia - and find your favourites for the table or as decorative details in your home.

ARoS is an international art museum in the heart of Aarhus

The museum's collection holds more than 8,000 works, including masterpieces by Danish and international artists. Among the best-known works are Olafur Eliasson's Your rainbow panorama (2011) and Ron Mueck's oversized sculpture Boy (1999).

In 2026 the monumental work As Seen Below - The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell, opened. It is the acclaimed light artist James Turrell's largest and most ambitious Skyspace to date.

More than 600,000 visitors come to ARoS every year for art experiences, to shop in the ARoS Shop, eat at ARoS Café and Orangeri, or simply enjoy the iconic architecture and location.
