The VIVA cabinet - Behind the design
Natural materials, elegant design and fine craftsmanship come together in VIVA - a unique cabinet from the NORDAL Signature series. Behind the simple, timeless design lies a story of wood, people and craftsmanship, in which every VIVA cabinet gets its own character.

In a small village, Cangkol Village, every single VIVA cabinet begins its journey long before it stands finished in a home.
It starts with a piece of wood carefully selected from local areas such as Wonogiri, Gunung Kidul and Boyolali. From there it is taken to the sawmill, where it is already watched over by staff from the factory.
Every cut follows a plan - because this is where the shape of what will later become a unique piece of furniture begins.

After cutting, the wood's long journey continues. Each piece undergoes gentle treatment over two days before slowly moving on to the drying kiln. Here the wood is given time to dry under carefully controlled conditions. Each type of wood has its own character and rhythm, so every material is given the time it needs.
When the wood is ready, it is carefully inspected by the staff. It's an important moment in the process, because only when the wood has the right quality can it take the next step on its journey.
Back at the warehouse, the experienced craftsmen are waiting. With steady hands they begin to transform the dried pieces of wood into the many parts that will one day become VIVA. Every cut is carefully considered, and frames, shelves, doors and drawers are shaped with precision and respect for the material.
One part after another finds its place. What used to be separate pieces of wood slowly begins to come together. The frame rises, the shelves find their position, and the drawers become part of the whole.
For the first time, VIVA now stands before the craftsmen as the piece of furniture it was made to be.

Now the final part of the transformation begins. The surface is gently sanded, again and again, until it feels smooth and pleasant. In the craftsmen's hands, the surface of the wood becomes more refined, while its natural character is allowed to remain.
On the inside, the wood keeps its own special expression. The lively grain, fine textures and natural variations come through and make each cabinet a little different from the next. It's precisely these small differences that make the material come alive and give VIVA its personal character.
On the outside, the cabinet gets its final colour. The deep, well-balanced surface settles around the wood while the cabinet is given time to dry and find its finished expression.
Finally, the inside is given one more careful sanding. This last touch ensures the smooth, pleasant finish that completes the work.
And then VIVA is finished.
VIVA COLOURS

Before VIVA leaves the workshop, every cabinet is checked one last time. A thorough quality inspection ensures that every detail is as it should be, before the cabinet is carefully cleaned and made ready for the rest of its journey.
VIVA is carefully packed so it can set off on the final part of its journey. From the workshop in Cangkol Village all the way to its new home, the cabinet travels on - ready to become part of everyday life, its surroundings and the many moments that lie ahead.
Finally, VIVA finds its place in a customer's home. Here a new story begins, in which the natural character of the wood and the small details live on and become part of a personal home.
From the first piece of wood selected in the local areas around Cangkol Village to the finished piece of furniture, many hands, many hours and great care have been part of the journey. The result is a piece of furniture in which the natural wood, the precise craftsmanship and the small unique details carry the story on - all the way from Cangkol Village to the home where VIVA finds its final place.
